John Simpson
John Cody Fidler-Simpson, journalist, political editor and author, was born in 1944 in Cleveleys, Lancashire.
He was educated at Dulwich College Prep School, St Paul's School and Magdalene College, Cambridge where he read English.
His career began at the BBC directly after graduating, as a trainee sub-editor in radio news. In 1980 he became political editor, in 1982 diplomatic editor and in 1988 world affairs editor. He is well known for reporting from conflict zones around the globe.
John Simpson has published many books, both non-fiction and fiction including, Moscow Midnight, We Chose to Speak of Wars and Strife and News from No Man's Land.
